Informed Consent

What is the purpose of this study and who is leading it?

We are asking you to take part in a research study aimed at investigating exercise behaviour in university students.

This study is being carried out by Elisabetta Diehl(elisabetta.diehl@ulb.be) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, under the supervision of Professor Ann DESMET, Faculty of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Speech Therapy, and is part of the work associated with a final dissertation in clinical psychology and psychopathology.

This research involves completing a questionnaire over a period of approximately 15 minutes.

We cannot at this stage fully disclose the aims of our research so as not to bias the results by influencing your answers, but detailed explanations will be offered at the end of this study.

You will be given access to the overall, anonymized results of the study once it has been completed.

Participation and withdrawal

Your participation in this research is voluntary. You may choose not to participate and if you decide to participate you may stop answering the questions or the task at any time and close your browser window without any prejudice. The investigator must provide you with all necessary explanations concerning this research. You have the right to obtain answers to your questions about the procedures before or after taking part by sending an e-mail to elisabetta.diehl@ulb.be.

Confidentiality and data security

All data collected in this study are anonymous and will be stored confidentially. Neither the researchers nor third parties will have access to your identity, which cannot be cross-checked with the answers to the questionnaire. The data resulting from your participation in this study may be transmitted in the context of other research related to this study, and eventually compiled in databases accessible to the scientific community. The data we share is not identifiable, so no one will know which data is yours or even if you have participated.

Who reviewed this study?

This study has been reviewed by an independent Ethics Committee, namely the Ethics Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Speech Therapy. Under no circumstances should you take the favorable opinion of the Comité d'Avis Éthique as an inducement to participate in this study.
